Our clients appointed Croyland Building Surveyors to advise on the acquisition of the historic maltings building near Cambridge. The purchase was as an investment with exiting tenancies.
The survey needed sound understanding of traditional building methods. In this case the building was built of thatch and clunch (a local form of chalk). We also needed to understand the alterations that had been made in the past, not all of which were entirely sympathetic to the historic fabric.
Croyland Building Surveyors have extensive experience, and have formal qualifications, in building conservation. This includes experience in both repairing and surveying vernacular buildings that are not the usual run-of-the-mill.
