Croyland Surveyors deal with the construction of new buildings, including project management and administration of building contracts.
The ‘Future Business Centre’ on the outskirts of Cambridge has been constructed to support of new businesses involved in green technology and sustainability.
We were engaged to monitor the construction of this building. Although the structure is of conventional reinforced concrete on piled foundations, the building incorporates a number of features to minimize its environmental impact and energy use. Passive shading and other features help to maintain steady internal temperatures and avoid the need for air-conditioning. Energy inputs are supplemented by extensive solar panel arrays on the roof and by photo-voltaic glazing on the front elevation. Construction proceeded under exceptionally adverse winter conditions, when measures are required to protect new concrete from frost without significant delays to the contract programme. We were able to monitor and advise on these measures, an on subsequent hand-over and ‘de-snagging’ at completion.
Wide ranging knowledge of construction techniques, coupled with an up-to-date understanding of emerging technologies, help to ensure that clients get the best from new building works. Croyland Building Surveyors have in-house expertise and can draw on a wide range of tried and trusted experts if needs be.
